Fertile Window Calculator
A fertile window calculator estimates the days in a cycle when conception may be more likely. It uses your last period start date, average cycle length, and luteal phase length to estimate ovulation and the fertile days leading up to it.
The fertile window calculator can also show a wider range when you enter shortest and longest cycle lengths for irregular cycles.
How to Use the Fertile Window Calculator
- Enter the first day of your last period.
- Add your average cycle length.
- Keep luteal phase length at 14 days unless you know your own value.
- Add shortest and longest cycle lengths if your cycles vary.
- Review the estimated fertile window and upcoming cycle windows.
Formula Used
Estimated ovulation = last period start + (cycle length - luteal phase length)
Fertile window start = estimated ovulation - 5 days
Fertile window end = estimated ovulation
Irregular range = earliest ovulation from shortest cycle through latest ovulation from longest cycle
The calculator gives one window for regular cycles and a wider date range when shortest and longest cycle lengths are entered.
Example
If your last period started on June 1, 2026 and your average cycle is 28 days, estimated ovulation is June 15. The fertile window estimate is June 10 to June 15, with the most fertile days around June 13 to June 15.
What Your Result Means
Your result is a planning range, not a guarantee. The fertile window includes days before ovulation because sperm may survive for several days, so timing before ovulation can matter.
Accuracy and Limitations
Cycle calculators depend on averages. If your cycle changes often, the date range should be interpreted cautiously. For more confidence, compare calculator estimates with cervical mucus patterns, body temperature, ovulation predictor kits, or professional guidance.

FAQ
What days are included in the fertile window?
The estimate includes the five days before ovulation and ovulation day.
Why does irregular cycle input create a wider range?
Variable cycle length means ovulation may happen earlier or later, so the calculator shows a broader possible window.
Is the last day of the fertile window always ovulation day?
In this estimate, yes. Real ovulation timing can shift, so the day should not be treated as certain.
Can this calculator help prevent pregnancy?
No. It is not contraception guidance and should not be used as the only method to avoid pregnancy.
What should I do if my cycles are very irregular?
Consider discussing cycle patterns with a qualified healthcare professional, especially if irregularity is new or concerning.
